The flowering consists of small cream-white flowers followed by non-edible, round, red fruits of 2 cm in December, which is why it is called the "Christmas palm." However, it can also produce them throughout the year.

It can be used as an indoor plant and thrives in coastal areas, on terraces, and balconies. Plant it in well-draining soil in a sunny to partially sunny location.
