Phyllostachys aurea grows at a rate of 60/80 cm per year and reaches a height of 4-6 meters. You can trim it to your desired height.
This bamboo is recommended for hedges and privacy screens; it is the bushiest bamboo and will effectively cover your privacy screen in its entirety.
The culms (canes) reach a diameter of 3-5 cm when mature. They are green when they emerge from the ground and later turn green-orange. They are highly distinctive because the internodes at the base grow and thicken asymmetrically.
The sheaths are glabrous, with shades of pink and brown-purple speckles; they quickly disappear.
Leaves: This bamboo has the most leaves from the base to the top of the culms; the leaves are dense and persistent, measuring 12-15 cm long and 2 cm wide, and are light green in color.
This is also the most widespread and recommended variety for container gardening.
